WELCOME TO MY BEADING WORLD

I am so fortunate to have met Suzanne, a very talented artist, recently at a bead retreat. Watching her make her stunning creations is fascinating, interesting and beautiful. I was lucky enough to see in person the beginnings of this piece being created. Her design ideas and eye for color are fabulous and her work is perfection. I love the various elevations and textures and Suzanne’s techniques are innovative. Besides the beautiful gems and fossils, (using her creative mind) she used pieces that other women from the retreat had made, making this piece special to me.

This necklace caught my eye right away because of all the beautiful colors and textures. I love the Druzy stone Suzanne chose for this piece. The tiny crystals sparkle and the color is beautiful. Suzanne has a good eye for picking out the perfect gems and fossils for her pieces. Her designs are magnificent and bead work is perfect. Not a thread out of place. She balances all the colors, textures and sizes wonderfully and for this piece chose an interesting chain.

When I found that this collar was actually for sale I had to buy it immediately! I was in awe that it took 4 months of full time work to design and assemble the collar, truly a labor of creativity and skill. As a beadworker myself, I really appreciate the talent of a master like Suzanne, and I proudly display this as a piece of art in a shadow box in my home. Whenever I wear it I get so many compliments and people always want to touch the fringe, which is 3 layers deep. I love the large raw amethyst crystal stone in the center, and the way that she integrated all of the colors around it; I feel like an Egyptian queen when I wear it!

This necklace draws comments whenever I wear it out. The large handmade Raku piece suspended from the copper spiral was the inspiration for the design, and Suzanne really chose the right scale and adornments to showcase it. She does such a professional job of the underside that the back is just as attractive as the top side, and I have considered wearing it both ways. I love this piece so much that I have purchased coordinating fabric to build a mix and match wardrobe to wear with it! When I am not wearing it as a necklace it is displayed in a shadow box in my living room for all to enjoy.

This is my 3rd major purchase from Suzanne’s jewelry collections, and the one that I wear the most. I love the complementary yellow of the simbircite (formed over 160 million years ago) and purple Labradorite— it goes with so many outfits in my wardrobe; I wore it almost every day on a recent European vacation. I feel very confident that I am very well accessorized when wearing this modern piece of art. When I am not wearing it as a necklace it is displayed in a shadow box in my living room for all to enjoy.

I absolutely love my beaded seascape from Suzanne. I have been collecting beadwork for over 50 years, and making my own for over 30, and this is one of the most unique items I have ever seen. I find it both beautiful and inspiring - every time I look at it, it gives me ideas on new things to try. Above all, it brings joy and makes me smile.
